About a decade ago, my niece went "missing." That's all I can really divulge then and now because it is an ongoing investigation.
However, I wanted to give somewhat of an update for the people that showed so much support.
Three people have been arrested and are awaiting sentencing and trial for her murder. There is still one more who needs to be charged, but this feels like a small measure of justice.
They have walked free every day knowing what they did to her.
We, her loved ones, both friends and family, have had to swallow that injustice for a decade knowing it was foul play and that they had zero remorse.
When they are convicted, I will share more details.
Thank you to all who showed their support in those painful early days. Whether it was by posting a message or by the ones who reached out to me privately. You all have no idea how hard that time was or how much it meant to me to have that online Army at my back.

What a terrible situation but I am glad you all are getting some peace and closure and sense of justice.
I imagine this also brings all the feelings up again, so it is both painful and a relief at the same time.
Be good to yourself as you navigate all this. And celebrate this small victory.

Thank you BB. Yes, it does hit buried grief, but it's much better than continuing to watch her murderers walk free. The hardest part is dealing with the fact that she will never come back. But we have been sent s9 much love and prayers over the years by loved ones close by too Thank you

I remember this. It doesn’t seem like 10 years have passed. I can only imagine that in some ways it feels like yesterday and others an entire lifetime has gone by.
I hope they receive the justice that is deserved and you all are able to find a small measure of peace. 🕊️🤍

I’m sorry for your loss and the time you have spent not having the responsible people arrested and convicted.
We had a similar case in my town but fortunately for the family the teen’s body was found a few weeks later after missing. There are 2 more unsolved deaths of teen girls from the same area with no bodies but plenty of suspicion.
I pray you find some peace.

Every year around the time she was murdered, I would spiral back into depression knowing they walked free and one was even thriving. I think, now, as the years go by, I will be a little more at peace. They haven't gone to trial, but they have been indicted, so that will be less burden for the FBI and prosecuting attorney to prove their cases against them. The one still walking free, there isn't yet enough evidence to arrest him. But who knows which of the three will crack first when offered a plea. So, we wait with fingers crossed.
My poor sister was out of the country at the time and only found out through social media that her child was even "missing." It was a complete horror show for many months.
I always thought no pain would ever surpass my time in the betrayal that brought me here until that happened. I have sadly learned that there are even worse traumas in life. Not that it is a competition, because it is all still painful. But I have also learned that with support a person can get through anything.
When the trials are all concluded, I will be more forthcoming with a better update. For now, I just needed to express my gratitude.
